Camp came to a close this past weekend in which we concluded with a few practices and a scrimmage against Fork Union. It's always better to go against someone with a different color jersey after facing your teammates for two weeks. In our scrimmage we found out a lot about our team. A few injuries were accounted for but our team looked composed and ready to start a season.
But during camp it is more than just football. During our team meetings we learn how to BeCome a Family and how we can take things from the field and apply them to life. We learned things about how to make up your mind to succeed, such as who has a fixed mind set and who has a growth mind set. To become a better athlete and person, one must have a growth mind set in which they believe effort and learning make everything possible.
This week we become student-athletes with classes starting and have our season opener at home against Averett. GO EAGLES!! Come out and show support!
Line of the Day: No problem is insurmountable. With a little courage, teamwork and determination a person can overcome anything.

Media Day
Today we had about a 3 hour practice and then delt with the media day, taking photos and some interviews. When taking our team photo, all I could think about was team unity. We were all sitting there waiting for that photo to be snapped and the GOAL of team unity and winning was running through my mind. I found this to be funny later, because during our team meeting, our head coach focussed on the team objectives we much reach in order to help our team have a better chance at winning week to week.
Line of the Day: All winning teams are goal-oriented. Teams like these win consistently because everyone connected with them concentrates on specific objectives. They go about their business with blinders on; nothing will distract them from achieving their aims.

One Day Down..
So the first day of camp has come to a complete. Basically a day of camp is filled with waking up early and having meetings and practices all day until around this time. Today we met some new coaches and teammates. We started off the day with our traditional team devotional in which we heard the Lord's word. We learned that one must not say what he is going to do, but act upon it. One must start change with the one they see in the mirror.
Coming into my third season I felt comfortable with camp, but still felt a bit nervous. I felt good about my first practice, but to become a champion one can never be statisfied. There is always room for improvement, and the little things are what separate the good from the great.
Line of the Day: It is amazing how much you can accomplish when it doesn't matter who gets the credit.

Settled
So finally summer as I know has ended and football season has begun. It's always a time of mixed feelings....upset that summer is over but happy to get back on the gridiron. Today I drove back to up to Bridgewater and moved in. Good to see all my teammates, coaches, and athletic trainers. Getting settled into the room tonight and starting meetings. First practice is tomorrow and yet again, theres mixed feelings. Happy to step back on the field but who really looks foward to conditioning?...but it's time to go kick it with all my teammates and get some food before our team meetings.

End of Summer
So the end of summer has come to an end. It's funny how time flies after the 4th of July. Done with work and now beginning to pack for the school year. Packing always means something is ending and something else is beginning. This beginning is the chase for a championship. Although we started this journey at the end of last season, the main work will begin this weekend with the beginning of camp. With probably the most talented team in the conference, I hope everyone has put their efforrt into the workouts in order to be able to compete for the ODAC Championship. We have a lot to work on during camp to live up to the Top 25 that some polls have us listed in the nation. Stay Posted for updates throughout camp and the season.
